Built by scaffolders, for scaffolders.

Built inside a working UK scaffolding firm to run its own jobs — and still running them live, every day.

Our story

The Scaffold Software wasn't built by a software company. It was built inside a working UK scaffolding firm that, a few years ago, looked a lot like most firms its size: four spreadsheets, three software subscriptions, a folder of paper handover sheets, and a WhatsApp group holding the schedule together. Quotes took 45 minutes each. The office burned 12 hours a week on admin. And the wages run was a Sunday-night ritual of texting lads for their hours.

The breaking point was the year the QS reckoned £30,000 of variations never made it onto an invoice. The work was done — lifts moved, day works logged on scraps of paper, returns to site nobody wrote down — and the money just quietly never arrived. We went looking for software to fix it and found tools built for general construction: full of features scaffolders never use, missing the ones we needed every day. Nothing spoke in meterage, gangs, off-hire and payment applications.

So we built our own, in the yard, around real jobs. Every screen earned its place by fixing something that was actually going wrong that week — the quote that took an evening, the inspection that nearly got missed, the variation that nearly went unbilled. Quoting dropped from 45 minutes to 5. Office admin went from 12 hours a week to 3. Variations now get signed and onto a payment claim within 48 hours of the work. Wages run at 9am Monday, straight off the schedule, without a single chasing text.

Then other scaffolding firms started seeing it — a handover cert emailed before the van left site, a quote PDF landing the same morning — and asking what we were running. That's when The Scaffold Software became a product. It still runs that firm's jobs live, every day, which keeps us honest: if a feature doesn't work on a real scaffold job, it doesn't ship.

What we stand for.

Built for the trade

We don't translate scaffolding into software language. Meterage, lifts, gangs, off-hire, applications — the words on the screen are the words in the yard, because we use it in our own yard every day.

Simple by design

If a lad can use WhatsApp, he can use this. No training manual, no implementation consultant, no six-month rollout — the office should be quicker in week one, not month six.

Always improving

We ship updates weekly, and the roadmap is whatever made a scaffolder swear last week — ours or a customer's. Tell us the bit of your week that's still painful and there's a decent chance it's fixed before the month is out.
